What we believe as a church

In Cornerstone Christian Centre, we have a mandate and have been called to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth. We have 7 fundamentals we hold so dearly in our ministry. They are:

1. OUR SOTERIOLOGY
Our SOTERIOLOGY posit eternal salvation in Christ.
We believe that No believer born of God will be lost to hell.
"John 10:28-29
28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."

"Hebrews 7:25
25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. "

"Jude 1:24
24. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” "

2. OUR THEOLOGY ABOUT GOD
We see God only in the light of the character of JESUS. Jesus is God explained.
John 1:18
18. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared (exegemao: exegesis - explanation) him.

3. The Foundation of our ESCHATOLOGY is rooted in our SOTERIOLOGY. We believe in the RESURRECTIONOF THE dead in Christ
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15
13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which Are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

We believe in hell and lake of fire but that they were not made for man but for Satan. But men will go there with the devil because they rejected the gospel of their salvation.
John 16:7-9
7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9. Of sin, because they believe not on me;

So the sin that makes people go to hell is UNBELIEF. Now you know why Paul urged us in 2 Corinthians 5:11 saying, "knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men..."

4. Our GIVING CULTURE is theological and discernible.
We believe that how a believer relate with money is a litmus test of their spirituality. Money is a spiritual stethoscope; with it you can detect the inclination of a person's heart. That means from the record of your expenditure I can analyse your passion and motivations in life. Jesus said this to us very lucidly in the gospels.

Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Luke 12:34
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

In giving we believe in percentage system as the most brilliant way to measure your growth in generosity. We don't all earn equal but percentage helps us to monitor our growth in giving not how much we give since "how much we give" is relative!

Luke 21:1-4
1. And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

The principle for giving in Our ministry is founded on 2 Corinthians 9:7
Principle: Willingly. Not grudgingly, Not of Neccesity, Cheerfully.
Motivation: Honour for God and Furtherance of the gospel

5. We believe in PROSPERITY
3 John 1:2
2.Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

We can leverage on the Holy Spirit in us to guide us in decisions regarding our finances, business and even innovations. By divine leading we believe a believer can be favoured of God, Man and angelic activities can orchestrate happenings in our favour.

6. Our CHARISMATIC THEOLOGY is all inclusive in that every believer can give room to the flow of God's Spirit within them.

We conduct DELIVERANCE in our ministry - We believe that a believer could by ignorance give room to satanic attack and can therefore be oppressed and obsessed by demons; hence the need for deliverance

7. We are a FEMINIST CHURCH by its simple definition of equal opportunity to essential human rights.

We however preach leadership in the context of MARRIAGE. God is a FEMINIST in that he lives both in man and woman. A woman is not subservient or less in value to God. I preach gender equity and not equality. Let me explain. Gender equality will say a man and a woman must be treated and faced with same issues in life irrespective of context but my teaching is that context is key. So I believe in equality until context contradict. Example, In the context of marriage, some cardinal responsibilities should be gender based as agreed between spouse. For instance a man may be responsible for babysitting if the wife is a field engineer while he is remote worker. But in Christ, nothing of such. A woman can be a PASTOR and can lead a congregation and should be accorded the same honour as given to man. The enablement of the spirit is not gender based.
